Halloween in Downtown Coral Gables Runs on Overlapping Shifts

  • October 22, 2026

When does Halloween in downtown Coral Gables stop being a children's afternoon and become a cocktail evening? The city's schedule for Saturday, October 31, has no clean break. The Coral Gables Museum opens the day with a dog costume contest at 2 p.m. Actors' Playhouse closes it with an 8 p.m. curtain, and the trolley keeps running until 10. In between, the family events, a Day of the Dead celebration and a citywide bar crawl overlap by design, sharing Miracle Mile, Giralda Plaza and Ponce Circle Park for hours at a time.

The Day at a Glance

The City of Coral Gables has spread its Halloween season from Saturday, October 17, through Saturday, October 31, beginning with the Pumpkin Patch at Ponce Circle Park. Saturday is the last day, and it carries the most programming.

3 to 6 p.m. Trick-or-Treat on the Mile Miracle Mile

5 p.m. Magic show Miracle Mile
6 p.m. onward Drink-or-Treat self-guided crawl Participating bars and restaurants downtown
8 p.m. Jekyll & Hyde, rated PG-13 Miracle Theatre

Trick-or-Treat on the Mile is free, and the city's RSVP is only there to help it estimate attendance. The Coral Gables Trolley runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Freebee service is also available. The city notes that the schedule may change, so check its event pages on Saturday morning.

The Afternoon Starts With Dogs and Dorothy

The day opens at 2 p.m. with two events running at once. The Halloween Doggie Costume Contest takes over the Coral Gables Museum, and The Wizard of Oz starts at the Miracle Theatre. A family can go to one, or split up and cover both. At 3 p.m. the participating businesses along Miracle Mile start handing out candy, and at 3:30 the face painting and balloon artist arrive.

The Playhouse fills the gaps in the street program. Its Musical Miracles performance at 3:45 and the Kiddie Costume Parade at 4:30 fall between the face painting and the 5 p.m. magic show. A child in costume can get through the whole afternoon program without leaving the Mile.

Some of the evening's bars are already serving by then. El Ñaño Miami at 339 Miracle Mile runs an extended happy hour from 3 to 9 p.m., which covers the whole trick-or-treat window and most of the evening. Francesco at 278 Miracle Mile prices its Inka Blood, a red pisco cocktail, at $12 all day. A parent who wants a drink while the children trick-or-treat doesn't have to wait until 6 p.m.

Between 4 and 6 p.m., Both Crowds Share Downtown

The most crowded part of the day comes before the bar crawl starts. At 4 p.m. the Day of the Dead celebration opens at Ponce Circle Park, with traditional Mexican performances, music, dance and food presented by the Consulate of Mexico. It runs until 9 p.m., so it starts during the family afternoon and continues well into the crawl. For the Consulate General of Mexico, the city's listing says, the celebration is part of a cultural diplomacy program that honors the heritage of Indigenous and pre-Hispanic peoples.

Giralda Plaza starts its evening in the same window. Eating House at 128 Giralda Plaza has a live DJ for happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m., pouring a Witch's Fizz made with Bombay Sapphire, passion fruit and sparkling rosé. Upstairs at 124 Giralda Plaza, Cebada Rooftop runs happy hour from 5 to 8 p.m. Its Halloween cocktail is called Elevators & Rooftops, made with tequila, blood orange, ginger, lime and honey. Both are underway while the magic show is still running on the Mile.

The 6 p.m. Changeover

Trick-or-Treat on the Mile ends at 6 p.m., and Drink-or-Treat starts at the same time. The crawl has no tickets. The city's RSVP only helps it estimate attendance. Guests pick up a punch card at their first stop and get a punch for each drink they buy. Visiting three participating locations earns a limited-edition souvenir glass, given out first come, first served at select restaurants that are marked on the event map.

The city lists participants in three groups. Here are a few stops from each, with the specials the city has published:

  • Miracle Mile. 450Gradi at 130 Miracle Mile prices all drinks, signature cocktails included, at $10 from 6 to 9 p.m. Armstrong Jazz House at 271 Miracle Mile pours a Jazzy Trick espresso martini. John Martin's at 253 Miracle Mile turns into The Halloween Bar, with heavy décor. Salumeria 104 at 117 Miracle Mile has two $10 cocktails, a Trick-or-Tini and a Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini. Sushi Sake at 230 Miracle Mile pours a $15 rosemary Lucifer Margarita.
  • Giralda Plaza. Costazul at 160 Giralda Plaza extends happy hour until 9 p.m. It serves $12 Red Moon Margaritas and Mystic Chilcanos, plus a $15 jalea de corvina. Coyo Taco at 126 Giralda Plaza serves a purple Bloody Magic City margarita, and Aromas del Peru at 110 Giralda Plaza mixes a butterfly pea tea Beetlejuice.
  • Elsewhere downtown. The Hotel Colonnade Lobby Bar at 180 Aragon Ave. pours a blackberry Blood Moon Margarita. Five Iron Golf at 3009 Ponce de Leon Blvd. adds a DJ and Halloween décor to its $8 Final Injection margarita. Americana Kitchen at 2950 Coconut Grove Dr. has a nonalcoholic Phantom Fizz alongside its Poison Apple and Witches' Brew.

Participating locations and specials may change, and the city says it will announce more stops as they are confirmed.

The Newest Rooms Are Already on the Map

Some of downtown's newest restaurants have opened in time for this weekend, and one is already on the crawl. Ami Ami, a cultural café with coffee, books, art and Flammkuchen, opened at 318 Miracle Mile on August 22, according to The Burn Miami. Owner Dushan Drakalski opened it with his wife, Milena Damchevski, and chef Joey Giannuzzi created the menu. About ten weeks after opening, it is one of the city's listed Drink-or-Treat stops, pouring two wine cocktails. The Blood Moon combines red wine, blackberry syrup and citrus zest. The Maple Murder pairs white wine with apple cider, maple and salt.

Three other new rooms are close to the crawl:

  1. Imoto, chef Clay Conley's Japanese and Asian sister concept to Buccan at 100 Miracle Mile. The Burn Miami reported an opening day of Monday, October 12. Its menu covers sushi, sashimi, dumplings, tempura and teppanyaki. The Burn expected Imoto's entrance to be around the corner on Galiano Street.
  2. Zuccaly, an 8,000-square-foot Italian food hall from Da Silva Hospitality at 111 Palermo Ave., Suite 112. Miami New Times reported that it opened October 8 with six stations: pasta, Roman-style pizza, grill and fish, salads, sweets and sandwiches. A group with mixed appetites after the Day of the Dead celebration can split up and still eat together.
  3. Bar Zorro, a Spanish-themed tapas and cocktail bar at 146 Giralda Ave. It was already serving when The Burn Miami covered it on August 20.

The fall openings feed straight into the downtown events calendar. A café that opened in late summer is part of the city's Halloween map by October.

After 8 p.m., and the Fridays That Follow

The Miracle Theatre's 8 p.m. Jekyll & Hyde is the late show, rated PG-13. Morton's The Steakhouse at 2333 Ponce de Leon Blvd. runs its Power Hour from 6 to 10 p.m. The Day of the Dead celebration at Ponce Circle Park winds down at 9, and the trolley runs until 10.

Downtown has more on the calendar in the two weeks after Halloween:

  • Monday, November 2. La Pecora Bianca plans to make its South Florida debut that day at the Shops at Merrick Park, 360 San Lorenzo Ave., according to The Miami Guide.
  • Friday, November 6. Giralda Live runs from 7 to 11 p.m. at Giralda Plaza, with Pamir y La Pachanguísima on stage from 8 to 10.
  • Friday, November 13. Art in the Park brings live music, visual art and food to Ponce Circle Park at 7 p.m., the same park that hosts the Day of the Dead celebration two weeks earlier.

On Miracle Mile, Azul Modern Mexican Cuisine is taking over 127 Miracle Mile, the former Kao Sushi & Grill space. Owners Franklin and Alondra Andrade were aiming for an October opening, as Hoodline reported in August, but no exact day has been announced.
